"1) First off, when you receive your monthly bank statement each month, sit down and look closely at all the debits and the credits. Do a reconciliation and determine the charges put on your account as well as payments made out from your account. This helps in detecting not only identity theft fraud but also detects any overcharges put on your account.
2) If you do detect a fraud or an overcharge, call up a bank representative and notify them immediately. Sometimes you'll notice banks have double charged you (two debits). The representative will help you in resolving overcharges. Remember, banks can make mistakes too!"

im not sure if you have ever tried to phone the call center to get anything fixed but i bank with bank of america and its near impossible.

they lost 2 cash deposits for a total of approx 1500 - if i didnt keep the receipts i would have lost my money - as the teller who processed my deposits claimed not to have received it.

anyway at bank of america call center they claim not to be able to handle any disputes over $150- and only one instance. i had to revert to my actual bank manager who refused to see me. after that i had to contact the state manager to receive attention to my problem.

so what did i do once i got my money back?

i went with a smaller bank valley national and no problems and no fees - a huge difference to me.

call centers are an excuse and a very unpleasant experience at bank of america.
